An archived copy of every reference
Paste the reference list from your book, handout or report. We find the web addresses in it and look each one up in the Wayback Machine: the newest archived copy, or the one closest to the date you cited. The ones with no copy get a link to save one now, and you get a references table to keep.
How to use the table
- Archived means the Wayback Machine has a good capture. Open it once: the archive keeps what the page showed, and a cookie banner or a sign-in wall can be all it caught.
- Old copy or Far from your date means the copy may not show what you cited. Save a fresh one if the page still says what you quoted.
- Copy of an error means the archive caught a redirect or an error page. Look through Every capture for a good one.
- No copy means nothing was found. Save one now; pages behind a sign-in or a paywall usually can't be archived, so keep your own PDF too.
Print the original address and the copy's address, keep the CSV, and next year paste the same list into the link list checker to see which originals still work. Why and how, with what else to print for each reference, is in links in a printed book, course handout or report.
