Will this QR code die?
Drop in a photo or screenshot of any QR code, before you send 500 menus to the printer or after the ones on the wall stop working. We read what the code holds and tell you who it depends on.
The image is decoded on your device. Nothing is uploaded and we don't open the link.
or drag it here, or paste a screenshot (Ctrl+V / ⌘V). On a phone you can take a photo.
How a QR code "dies"
A QR code is just text printed as squares. A plain (static) code holds your actual address, so it works for as long as your website does. A dynamic code holds the address of the generator company, which forwards each scan to you. That forwarding is the part that stops: when a free trial ends, a plan lapses, or the company changes its mind, the scan lands on their upgrade page instead of your menu.
You can't tell the two apart by looking at the squares. You can tell by reading the address inside, which is what this check does. If the domain isn't yours, someone else holds the switch.
What this check can't see: whether a link opens today, or what a redirect does after the first hop. Open the link once in a browser for that.
