Payment QR code for an invoice

The EPC code (GiroCode) that banking apps in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland and other euro countries scan to fill in a bank transfer. Each field is checked against the EPC's rules, the IBAN's check digits included, and the code is drawn in your browser: your bank details never leave this page.

Before it goes on an invoice

  • Scan it with your own banking app (the scan or photo-transfer button in the transfer screen, not the phone's camera) and stop at the approval screen. Check that name, IBAN, amount and invoice number landed in the right fields, then cancel.
  • Print the same details beside it in plain text. The EPC wrote its guideline for exactly that case, so a careful payer can compare the two.
  • One code per invoice. The amount and invoice number are inside it; never copy last month's image.
  • Euro bank transfers only. It can't take card payments, isn't meant for a shop till, and isn't read for Swiss francs (Switzerland has its own QR-bill), in the UK or the US.
