Wren Hollow Inn

A book-direct site for a nine-room inn above the Columbia River Gorge, built on the booking engine it already pays for.

Wren Hollow Inn is a sample business we use to show the work; the problems are the ones we find most often. Photos are free-to-use (CC0) stand-ins for the place's own.

What we found

  • The site's own “Book now” button sent guests to Booking.com, so the inn paid about 15% on guests who had already found it.
  • Guests couldn't tell which room had the view, where to park or how to check in after 8 pm.
  • Cloudbeds' booking engine was paid for but not linked anywhere.

What we designed

  • A home page with a dates bar, each room with its view, “from” price and who it suits (dogs, families).
  • A book-direct page on the inn's Cloudbeds engine, styled like the site, showing the saving against booking sites.
  • A welcome email with directions and the door code by text on the day.

What stays as it is

Cloudbeds calendar and channel manager, Booking.com and Expedia listings, the innkeepers' phone alerts.

How it fits

One picture for the innkeepers: what's new, what Cloudbeds keeps doing, and why it pays for itself.
